Faculty are at the core of AMCH. They bring extensive experience in homeopathy, clinical treatment and teaching to our programs. A core value of AMCH is the success of students. Doug Brown FNP, CCH
Faculty MemberDoug Brown is a graduate of Yale University's Family Nurse Practitioner Program but turned to homeopathy in order to provide deeper, more authentic healing for his patients. He graduated from the Hahnemann College of Homeopathy and maintains a full-time practice of Classical Homeopathy in Portland, Oregon, and Walla Walla, Washington. He has published articles in the International Journal of Homeopathic Links, the American Homeopath, Homeopathy Today, and Homeopathy International, and has taught in the USA and in Russia. Karen Allen CCH
Faculty MemberI am a practitioner and educator, certified in classical homeopathy by the Council for Homeopathic Certification in 1996. I began practicing in the Seattle, WA area in 1994, and for the past 9 years, my work has been primarily for clients with fertility issues. In addition to homeopathy, I use counseling, gemmotherapy, biochemic and dietary therapies with my clients. I teach at conferences and schools in North America, and have authored two widely used homeopathic textbooks. Additionally, I am the creator of Virtual Clinic, a clinically-based distance learning program in homeopathic case analysis. My clinical and teaching work has been done in combination with volunteer work to build the homeopathic profession. For the past 10 years, I have been on the Board of Directors for the Council for Homeopathic Certification, which I now serve as President. . I am a regular participant / contributor at the conferences for NANHE,(The North American Network of Homeopathic Educators) NCH(National Center for Homeopathy) and the West Coast Homeopathic Society (WCHS). I am also a member of the Association of Reproductive Health professionals (ARHP) and the California Homeopathic Medical Society (CHMS). Prior to my career in homeopathy, I worked in the Information Technology industry as a computer programmer, analyst, project manager and instructor from 1978 – 1991. The technical skills I developed during this time have assisted me in the development of multi-media distance learning.
Michael Iliescu MD, MD(H)
Faculty MemberMichael Iliescu completed a four year residency program in surgical/clinical pathology at Winthrop University Hospital in Long Island, New York. He completed a Forensic fellowship at Broward County Medical Examiner's office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Iliescu worked as a medical examiner at Maricopa Medical Examiner's office and at Coconino County Medical Examiner's office. Dr. Iliescu is currently finishing his second year of studying homeopathy at the American Medical College of Homeopathy. Dr. Iliescu also has an Autopsy and Forensic consultation business, where he performs private autopsies and gives consultation to attorneys. He has 7 years of teaching experience in the fields of Biochemistry and Pathology of Trauma. He taught at the following institutions: Scottsdale Community College, Northern Arizona University, Coconino Community College and Medical University Of Timisoara, Romania.
Nancy Soliven MD, DC
Faculty Member; Academic Affairs ConsultantNancy Soliven has had a long and varied career. She received her degree in Education at Michigan State University and taught in public schools for 15 years. She received her Master’s degree from the University of San Francisco in 1979 and her MFCC in 1980. She graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in 1985. While in Chiropractic school she was exposed to and studied Cranio-Sacral Therapy. In 1989 she was invited to become Team Leader for the Upledger Brain and Spinal Cord Dysfunction Center. In 1992 she was invited to join the faculty, and later became housing coordinator of Saba University School of Medicine N.A. She graduated with her MD in 1997. She moved to Wisconsin in 2002 where she has been in private practice. She has been teaching Cranio-Sacral Therapy nationally/internationally through her company Integrative Bodyworks Institute. In 2007 she graduated from Northland Pioneer Colleges’ Massage Therapy Program and in licensed in Arizona. Currently she has finished year two of her homeopathy studies and will graduate in 2012.
Jacqueline Obando DVM
Faculty MemberJacqueline S. Obando, DVM was born and raised in Brazil, where she attended Veterinary School at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, having graduated in 1983. After working for a few years in a mixed animal practice, she traveled to Europe to further her studies in Homeopathy. She moved to NYC in 1987 and has lived and practiced veterinary medicine on Mercer Island, east of Seattle, since 1996. Her life's passion has always been to heal our dog and cat friends. She keeps current with state of the art orthodox veterinary techniques, as well as alternative treatment modalities of homeopathy, chiropractic and nutrition/nutraceuticals. David Brule DHMS
Faculty MemberDavid graduated with nours from the Homeopathic College of Canada. in 1999. He began treating patients (other than his children) as a student practitioner in 1996 at the clinic of the Homeopathic College of Canada in Toronto. He is a founding member of the Riverdale Homeopathic Clinic and has been practicing homeopathy there since September of 1999. David grew up in Ottawa, and has lived in Toronto for the past 13 years. He enjoys the big city, but also looks forward to summers at his family cottage in western Qubec.
Dhvani Buch DHMS
Faculty Member; Academic Affairs ConsultantDhvani Buch is a certified Homeopathic doctor. She has obtained her BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) degree from India. She has undergone an extensive five-and-a-half years training in Homeopathy with the study of basic life sciences and medical subjects and an extensive study of homeopathic subjects including Organon, Materia medica, Homeopathic philosophy and Pharmacy. She has also undergone externship at the famous Mumbadevi Hospital in Mumbai, India. During her stay in Mumbai she has been fortunate enough to get in touch with the renowned homeopaths like Dr.Shankaran, Dr.Sunil anand, Dr.Sudhir baldotta, Dr.Divya chhabra, Dr.Farookh master and many more. Dhvani is a regular participant at the Homeopathic conferences and seminars. She has also delivered lectures about homeopathy and its practice in India and Usa. She is a member of the HMAI(Homeopathic Medical Association of India). She is also a member of the MHA(Minnesota Homeopathic Association). She has a passion for teaching and believes that “to teach is to change lives forever”. She has also contributed to homeopathy by participating in the public awareness programs in Connecticut, Usa. She is actively involved in the various group discussions in homeopathy in CT, Minnesota and India.
Loretta Butehorn PhD, CCH
Faculty MemberLoretta Butehorn, Ph.D., CCH is a licensed psychologist and a trained homeopath. Her psychological training was quite eclectic and combines developmental psychology, cognitive behavioral theory, family systems, psychodynamic conceptualizations and transpersonal approaches. In addition to her traditional training, since 1985 Dr. Butehorn has extensively explored complementary and alternative approaches to health, recovery and healing. She developed the first course in complementary/alternative therapies ever presented at Boston College; a course she continues to offer each year. She has extensive training in shamanism, hypnosis, EMDR, DBT and Thought Field Therapy and is a Fellow of the British Institute of Homeopathy. Dr Butehorn is Co Director of Teleosis School of Homeopathy in Boston, and Director of the Homeopathic Counseling Program. In addition to teaching both undergraduate psychology students and graduate management students at Boston College in the College of Advancing Studies, Dr. Butehorn consults and teaches nationally on topics of homeopathy,health and recovery, substance abuse/addiction and treatment, violence, family work and child welfare. She has a private practice in Boston consulting with both psychological and homeopathic clients.
Carol Carrell NMD
Faculty Member; Academic Affairs ConsultantCarol A. Carrell, NMD, is a graduate of Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Tempe, Arizona. She holds a MA in marital family therapy from Azusa Pacific University, Azusa, CA; a BS in Health Services Administration from University of Phoenix, San Jose, CA. She was an adjunct professor in the graduate program at Azusa Pacific University where she taught advanced developmental psychology, child therapy and alcohol and drug education. In addition, she has taught at California State University, Humboldt in the psychology department, a class in family relationships in contemporary society. During her 15 years in health services administration she helped to shape legislative efforts in California by serving on the California State Health Care Services Committee. She was one of the youngest elected delegates to the 1981 California State White House Conference on Aging representing Alameda County. In addition she sat on the advisory boards for Merritt College and Ohlone College. Publication includes “Who Will Heal the Little Ones? Helping Child Victims” in “Sexual Misconduct in Counseling and Ministry”. During her employment with Humboldt County Mental Health Department she was a clinical supervisor of both licensed therapists and interns. Melanie Chimes MD, MD(H), CCH
Faculty MemberDr. Melanie Chimes graduated from the University of Witwatersrand Medical School in 1986. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University in 1990. She has studies homeopathy since 1997 and became a licensed homeopathic physician in Arizona in 1998. She is board certified in homeopathic medicine through the Council on Homeopathic Certification. She has a private practice in classical homeopathy in Tucson, Arizona.
